Cabinet temperature control and dehumidification: New PRO units

Temperature control and dehumidification with integrated control saves time during installation and prevents wiring errors. That is exactly what our two new products are designed for: the PROTEMP 120 M Control, which cools and heats your control cabinet, and the PRO-XDry control cabinet dehumidifier, which lowers the humidity in the control cabinet. The letters “PRO” stand for professional control cabinet solutions. Both units work with our PELCORE Controller and come with the control already built in. You do not need to plan for a separate controller or additional wiring. The PROTEMP 120 M Control has been shipping for customer-specific applications since the end of August 2026, and the PRO-XDry series will follow in early 2027. In this article, you will find out what the units can do and what benefits they offer you.

Temperature control and dehumidification with integrated control: What is new?

Until now, a solution for temperature control or dehumidification in the control cabinet often consisted of several components: a Peltier unit, a controller or, for cooling, a thermostat. Each component had to be selected, installed and wired.

Our new PRO devices bring these functions together. The PROTEMP 120 M Control automatically cools and heats your electrical enclosure, while the PRO-XDry reduces humidity inside the enclosure.
Both units feature an integrated control system. All you need to do electrically is connect the power supply.
Both Peltier systems can be installed in your electrical enclosure quickly and efficiently.

PROTEMP 120 M Control: Cooling and heating with PELCORE control

The PROTEMP 120 M Control regulates the temperature of your control cabinet, meaning it both cools and heats. The PELCORE Controller handles the control. The dimensions match those of the existing PROTEMP 120 M Outdoor. You can therefore carry the unit over into existing designs.

The control is adjustable. You set the upper and lower switching temperatures in °C and thereby determine when cooling or heating starts. The hysteresis defines how far the temperature must change before the unit switches over again.

The PROTEMP 120 M Outdoor, whose dimensions the Control adopts, measures 320 x 130 x 167 mm. It is extremely compact and efficiently designed. With 135 watts of cooling capacity, 200 watts of heating capacity for 80 % and IP67 protection, it is ideally suited for indoor and outdoor applications. Examples include outdoor control enclosures at solar power plants and control cabinet temperature control in mining, mechanical engineering, offshore applications and railway technology. If you switch to the PROTEMP 120 M Control in one of these applications, you do not need to redesign the installation space.

A unit that cools and heats pays off above all outdoors and in installations with strongly fluctuating ambient temperatures. When it is warm, it removes the heat loss from the control cabinet. When it is cold, it keeps the electronics above their minimum operating temperature and reduces the risk of condensation. The upper and lower switching temperatures determine when each operating mode starts. One unit therefore covers both cases.

Advantages of integrated control

Integrated control makes a difference in four areas:

  • Fast installation: You only connect the power supply. This saves time and reduces the risk of wiring errors.
  • Adaptation to the environment: You set the switching points individually to match your ambient conditions.
  • Less effort: Controllers, thermostats and external wiring are no longer needed. You save material and shorten installation time.
  • Fewer sources of error: The solution is self-contained. There is no wiring of external controllers, and therefore none of the errors that come with it.

For OEM customers, every work step they no longer have to carry out counts. This is clearly noticeable in series production.

What changes in design and installation

With a unit that already contains the control, the number of items in the bill of materials goes down. Instead of planning, ordering and installing a unit, a controller and a thermostat, you only deal with one unit. Advantages for your planning work:

  • Design: You plan one item instead of three and do not need to reserve space in the control cabinet for a controller and thermostat.
  • Procurement: You order one unit. Selecting and matching separate components is no longer necessary.
  • Installation: You connect the power supply. Wiring the controller and thermostat is no longer necessary.
  • Documentation: The bill of materials and the wiring diagram become shorter.

PRO-XDry: Control cabinet dehumidifier with PELCORE control

PRO-XDry

Moisture in the control cabinet leads to condensation and corrosion. With the new PRO-XDry series, we are responding to the demand for powerful, compact dehumidifiers. Each unit has an integrated, adjustable PELCORE control. You install it easily, quickly and safely.

The series will be launched in early 2027 in three performance classes:

Type Maximum dehumidification capacity
PRO-XDry 10 10 ml/h
PRO-XDry 20 20 ml/h
PRO-XDry 30 30 ml/h

The number in the name indicates the maximum dehumidification capacity in ml/h. The unit therefore removes up to this amount of water per hour from the air in the control cabinet.

Why dehumidification in the control cabinet matters

Even well-sealed control cabinets do not stay dry permanently. Moisture enters the cabinet when the door is opened, through cable glands and through air exchange caused by temperature changes. When the air inside cools down, condensation forms on components and enclosure walls. The consequences are corrosion on contacts and terminals and, in the worst case, electronic failures. Installations outdoors, in humid production environments and control cabinets that are only operated intermittently are particularly at risk.

Which performance class is right depends on the cabinet volume, the tightness of the enclosure and the moisture load at the installation site. If none of the three classes suits your application, we will develop the dehumidification as a custom design for you.

Which unit is right for your control cabinet?

The choice depends on your application: installation site, temperature range and humidity in the control cabinet. Helpful details are the control cabinet dimensions, the installed power dissipation, the ambient temperature and, for dehumidification, the cabinet volume. Briefly describe your requirements to us. Together with you, we will check which unit is right.
