With the PELCORE TEC controller and its associated accessories, Dr. Neumann Peltier Technology (DNPT) provides the first fully integrated platform for complete control and monitoring of thermoelectric systems. The PELCORE TEC controllers deliver the highest precision in temperature control, achieving stability of ±0.01 K even in demanding applications. With USB, UART, and I²C interfaces, the controllers integrate seamlessly into existing systems, while overcurrent and overtemperature protection as well as minimal residual ripple ensure maximum safety.

The PELCORE TEC controller portfolio consists of PWR-CTRL TEC controllers—the core of precise and reliable Peltier temperature control—and plug-and-play expansion PCBs. These include COMM boards for flexible connectivity and web server extensions, converter boards for interfacing power and control signals with peripheral components, and expansion options for seamless integration of various display solutions.

With output power ranging from 150 W to 1,500 W, a compact design, and modular expandability, DNPT TEC controllers are ideally suited for industrial, medical, and scientific applications requiring precise temperature control. The PELCORE TEC controllers, available in three optimally matched power classes up to 1.5 kW, form a powerful foundation for precise Peltier control and demanding temperature regulation applications. Whether as an integrated OEM solution, a standalone system in an enclosure, or a custom development by DNPT, the controllers deliver maximum flexibility and a wide range of applications.

Even with their built-in core functionality, PWR-CTRL TEC controllers deliver outstanding performance in precise temperature regulation. The carefully filtered output voltage reduces electrical stress and significantly extends the lifespan of Peltier elements and complete thermoelectric systems. Extensive fine-tuning options enable a new level of accurate temperature control—stable, efficient, and highly repeatable. The integrated auto-tuning function ensures fast, optimal adaptation to different applications and makes system integration especially straightforward. For high-precision temperature measurement, the controllers support a range of sensor types, including NTCs, PT100/PT1000, and AD590 temperature sensors, ensuring flexible and reliable control even in demanding environments.

Unlike conventional TEC controllers, PELCORE systems enable seamless integration of peripheral components, significantly extending the functionality of thermoelectric applications. Fans and pumps—key elements in Peltier systems—can be directly connected via on-board connectors and conveniently controlled using PWM. Integrated tachometer feedback ensures reliable monitoring and precise control at all times. In addition, further peripheral devices can be flexibly integrated through freely configurable digital I/O interfaces. Custom-defined logic functions allow optimal adaptation to the specific requirements of your overall system.

PELCORE-controlled Peltier systems benefit not only from highly precise temperature regulation via the PWR-CTRL TEC controller, but also from a multi-level warning and error management system. In addition to target temperatures, key system parameters such as low-resolution temperature sensors and tachometer signals are continuously monitored and evaluated. Critical threshold values are detected early and indicated through appropriate warnings—ensuring maximum operational safety.

PELCORE COMM boards enable the integration of all common communication interfaces, ensuring that you can control and monitor your application at any time.

By default, PELCORE TEC controllers can be expanded via plug-in COMM boards for serial communication. This enables RS232/485/422 and UART connectivity without additional effort—supporting precise temperature control, setpoint definition for temperature and peripherals, as well as continuous system monitoring.

Not enough yet? The PELCORE COMM-PRO boards extend this functionality with an integrated web server and network-enabled communication via REST API.

CONVERTER boards

You have peripheral components that do not match your Peltier system’s voltage levels, or you need to interface 0–10 V or 5–20 mA signals from your system? No problem!

By extending PWR-CTRL TEC controllers with CONVERTER boards from the PELCORE ecosystem, signals can be easily converted and adapted to your specific requirements. This enables the integration of additional sensors such as flow meters as well as the implementation of 0–10 V signals as control variables.

Voltage-converting DC/DC converter boards also allow you to expand your PELCORE TEC controller with peripheral components without the need for additional power supplies.

PELCORE TEC controllers provide suitable HMI solutions through a range of display options.

DNPT TEC controllers can be directly connected to membrane keypads for intuitive operation. This allows 2.83″ displays to be configured, providing exactly what your application requires.

When used in combination with COMM-PRO communication boards, 2.83″ touch displays can also be integrated, allowing warnings, errors, and status messages to be accessed at any time.

Precise laser temperature control for stable performance

Laser sources and the laser diodes within them require highly precise temperature control to ensure consistent performance. Even minor temperature fluctuations can affect the emitted wavelength and lead to uneven and unstable laser output. The use of Peltier modules or alternative cooling via fluid circuits ensures reliable and stable temperature management.

This keeps the laser operating in its optimal range at all times—even in demanding continuous-use applications. Control is handled by high-performance TEC controllers that enable precise temperature regulation. Optionally, PELCORE TEC controllers are designed to integrate directly into existing laser control PCB designs via a PCI Express edge connector.

Fast, responsive temperature control for thermocyclers and PCR applications

Thermocyclers and PCR systems precisely control temperature cycles of samples to amplify targets such as viruses and reach detectable concentration levels. This process requires highly accurate and dynamic temperature control, with rapid ramp rates of several degrees per second. At the same time, defined temperature limits within the sample must not be exceeded to ensure reliable and reproducible results.

For complete process reliability, continuous monitoring and logging of all parameters is essential. Potential faults must be detected early and reliably prevented. This is where PELCORE TEC controllers come into play: with optimized control parameters, bidirectional Peltier control, and comprehensive monitoring with freely definable thresholds, they enable precise, fast, and reliable temperature management—even in the most demanding applications.

Reliable gas drying systems for consistent analysis

Modern gas drying systems are essential for the precise analysis of process gases, for example in the hydrogen and petrochemical industries. Only reliable gas conditioning ensures accurate monitoring of processes and early detection of critical states. Precise analysis is crucial to identify contamination or improper gas compositions in time, helping to prevent faulty processes—even in extreme cases involving explosive gas mixtures.

At the core of gas conditioning is the dehumidification of the sample gas, for example using high-performance Peltier dryers. These bring the gas into a stable and reliably measurable state. The precise control of the integrated cold trap is handled by PELCORE TEC controllers. In addition to stable temperature regulation, they ensure a high level of process reliability: deviations and malfunctions are detected and reported in real time, effectively preventing undetected fault conditions.

Flexible temperature control for laboratory and research applications

The laboratory environment is one of the key application areas for thermoelectric systems. Both chemical and biological processes are highly sensitive to temperature changes, which can significantly influence analytical and development results. Many applications therefore rely on thermoelectric temperature control, as it enables precise bidirectional regulation (heating and cooling). Yes, the bipolar controller can both heat and cool.

It is a PID controller.

2x PT100/PT1000 and 4x NTC sensors

The controller can monitor multiple temperatures and, via additional sensors, also track system operating conditions. These can be configured as warnings (signal output) or errors (system shutdown). When these thresholds are triggered is defined by the customer or the specific application.

Several interfaces are available, including RS232/485, UART, REST API, and web server-based control. Depending on the desired interface, the appropriate communication board must be selected (except for UART).

In case of errors, the controller responds according to the configured warning and error logic by shutting down or issuing user alerts. In the event of a power failure, the controller is not damaged if it is suddenly disconnected from power. It also retains its configuration. If an SD card is used, logged data remains preserved as well.

The controller is initially delivered without configuration and must be set up by the customer using software.

We can configure the controller according to customer requirements and, especially for repeat orders, deliver it consistently in the same configuration each time. Since the controller is highly powerful and offers extensive functionality, the initial setup must be carried out together with one of our technicians, who aligns the system with the customer’s application. Of course, the customer can determine their optimal configuration on their own system and subsequently send it to us for implementation.

Firmware updates are distributed by us and actively announced via email notifications. In the future, a dedicated section on our website will also be available, including an integrated SharePoint. Customers will be able to receive access to this platform.
